February, 2010 - Robert Wood Johnson, in conjunction with the University of Wisconsin Public Health Institute, released their rankings of the health status of every county in the U.S.

Among the 33 counties of Oregon, Deschutes County is 6th in overall health outcomes (5th in mortality and 8th in morbidities) and 2nd in overall health factors.  These high ratings are due in part to the healthcare services provided in Central Oregon, and by the St. Charles Health System.
